The Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Office of SMEs and Startups (Acting Director Lee Soonseok) announced on the 5th that it is recruiting prospective entrepreneurs to participate in the “New Business Startup Academy,” a program that supports well-prepared startups for aspiring small business owners.

The New Business Startup Academy is a flagship support program for small business startups, discovering aspiring entrepreneurs with innovative ideas and helping those ideas become successful businesses.

Across 17 cities and provinces nationwide, prospective entrepreneurs with creativity and growth potential are provided with education, consulting and coaching, incubation space, and up to 40 million KRW in commercialization funds as a package.

The application categories are divided into two types?Local Creator and Lifestyle?taking into account local economic revitalization and startup trends. A total of 510 participants will be selected, and customized programs will be provided according to the entrepreneur's item and category.

The program is linked with small business competency enhancement projects, and prospective entrepreneurs will be allocated incubation space according to their needs.

In the advanced course, commercialization funds, customized specialized academies, and consulting/coaching are provided, and business model advancement is supported through pitching competitions.

In the practical course, additional commercialization funds are provided through evaluation, along with hands-on startup programs such as one-on-one mentoring, pitching competitions, and post-program support.

When selecting trainees for this New Business Startup Academy, additional points will be given in the document evaluation to those who have completed local content-focused university programs, content-based Master School programs, or have won awards in the Youth Innovation Idea Challenge Camp (for youth preparing for independence) and Challenge Track.

In addition, graduates of the New Business Startup Academy will receive preferential treatment when applying for programs such as Local Creator and Strong Small Business Growth Support.

The application period is from the 17th to the 28th, and applications can be submitted through the Small Business 24 website.

Lee Daegun, Director of Small Business Policy, stated, “The New Business Startup Academy is an important startup support program for small business owners, serving as the first step in fostering entrepreneurial small businesses,” and added, “We will spare no effort in supporting aspiring entrepreneurs with innovative ideas so they can fully realize their potential.”
