'Korean History Top Instructor' Jeon Han-gil (54) has sparked controversy with consecutive 'political remarks,' including raising conspiracy theories about election fraud and speaking at rallies opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol. Meanwhile, certification posts of withdrawal are continuously appearing in the online community of over 350,000 members composed of Jeon's students.

Previously, Jeon attended a large-scale rally opposing President Yoon's impeachment and calling for his release, where he mentioned suspicions of election fraud by the National Election Commission and the 29 impeachment motions led by the opposition party, emphasizing the legitimacy of martial law, which stirred controversy. He also said, "If the president loves us, we should repay that love with love for the president."

Jeon has recently been frequently posting his political views and personal feelings on the 'Jeon Han-gil Korean History' cafe he operates, causing dissatisfaction among examinees. They are voicing complaints such as "The exam is only two months away, so why is it being neglected?" "The respect I once had has disappeared" and "It feels like a political cafe." Examinee A pointed out, "My disappointment with the teacher is not because of his political remarks but because this place is being neglected despite the difficulty in obtaining necessary information for exam preparation." Another examinee B criticized, "It feels bitter that he seems only focused on imposing his thoughts without caring about the atmosphere of students who have only a few months left before the exam."

In this situation, certification posts of withdrawal from the cafe are also appearing one after another. Examinee C wrote, "Even the money spent on books feels wasted," adding, "Live as you please. I am withdrawing." Other posts include comments like "I am ashamed to have taken the lectures before. Are you trying to go into politics?" and "If you want to do politics, stop giving lectures."

"I'm Not Far-Right, I Come from Nosamo... I've Never Said I Support the People Power Party"

As the dissatisfaction of examinees continued, Jeon said on the 2nd, "The country must survive for lectures to continue," and asked, "Please understand a little." Then, he claimed, "There are people who call me 'far-right,' but this is also gaslighting by the established politicians and media who set up this frame," he said. He continued, "I have revealed that I come from Nosamo (the group that loves Roh Moo-hyun), so does that mean my view of history is then 'far-left'?" He also said, "At least for the 2030 generation, I hope they can see history beyond dichotomous historical frames and view it through a new paradigm," adding, "I think my view of history is a 'common-sense faction' based on objective historical understanding through rational thinking, beyond the left-right framework."

Jeon also emphasized that he is not a supporter of the People Power Party. He said, "As revealed in the 'More Than Flowers Jeon Han-gil' video, I have criticized President Yoon's plan to increase medical school admissions by 2,000 and issues related to First Lady Kim Keon-hee," adding, "I never really liked President Yoon, and I have never once said that I support the People Power Party." He then said, "I thought it would be cowardly to watch and remain silent while the Republic of Korea, where my students will live, sinks as it is, so even if I get criticized like this, I raised my voice," and asked, "What is wrong with that?"
