As soon as the Lunar New Year holiday ended, Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, immediately visited the National Assembly to swiftly address urgent issues facing Jeollanam-do, such as the establishment of a national medical school.

On the 3rd, Governor Kim met with Woo Wonshik, Speaker of the National Assembly, Jeon Hyunhee, Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, Jin Sungjoon, Policy Committee Chair, Park Joomin, Chair of the Health and Welfare Committee, and National Assembly members Kim Moonsu and Seo Mihwa to propose key projects including the establishment of a national medical school and the enactment of the four laws on renewable energy.

This proposal was made to quickly seek the cooperation of the National Assembly on major urgent issues to be pursued this year, after broadly gathering public opinion from residents during the Lunar New Year holiday, despite difficult circumstances such as the December 3 martial law impeachment situation and the Jeju Air passenger plane accident.

Regarding the establishment of the 'Jeollanam-do National Medical School,' Governor Kim requested support so that, during the government's and medical community's discussions on the 2026 medical school quota, a separate quota of 200 students for the new Jeollanam-do National Medical School would be given priority allocation.

Governor Kim also called for the enactment of the four 'renewable energy' laws, including the Special Act on Offshore Wind Power, the Special Act on Agrivoltaic Solar Power, the Special Act on National Power Grid Agencies, and the Special Act on Distributed Energy Activation.

In addition, he proposed the establishment of the Honam Regional Aviation Administration to innovate the overall safety system and ensure efficient management of aviation control and maintenance in the southwestern region.
