Gumi-si, United Citizens Park Chung-hee Marathon Performance

Gumi City in Gyeongbuk has embarked on a full-scale effort to leap forward as a global sports city. On the 3rd, the city held a performance in front of City Hall to wish for the success of the 2025 Gumi Park Chung-hee Marathon.

Wishing success for the 2025 Gumi Asian Athletics Championships, a powerful performance was held at the Gumi Park Chung-hee Marathon, followed by a group commemorative photo.

Gumi City is ambitiously preparing the Gumi Park Chung-hee Marathon as a preliminary event ahead of the Asia Athletics Championships, which will be held for the first time by a basic local government from May 27 for five days.

In particular, this event is characterized by the rare feature of local competitions controlling downtown roads and allowing runners to pass through major urban points such as the Gumi National Industrial Complex, Nakdong River Riverside Road, Gumi Bridge, Dongnak Park, and the Export Tower. Participants can experience a unique race while enjoying Gumi’s industrial history and nature together. Mayor Kim also plans to participate directly in the 10km course to run and communicate with citizens.

To facilitate participant registration, Gumi City has extended the registration period, originally scheduled to close on February 3, until 4 p.m. on February 7. Detailed information on registration can be found on the official website.

Mayor Kim said, “This year, we will grow the Gumi Park Chung-hee Marathon into a representative marathon festival of Korea,” and added, “We ask for the interest and participation of many citizens and marathon enthusiasts.”
