Naju City in Jeollanam-do is launching public utility fee support for small restaurant business owners who are struggling due to economic recession, high prices, and high interest rates leading to reduced consumer spending.

On the 3rd, Naju City announced that, as part of its emergency comprehensive measures for stabilizing livelihoods, it will provide 300,000 KRW per restaurant with annual sales of less than 300 million KRW within the city.

Initially, the support was limited to restaurants with annual sales of less than 104 million KRW as defined by Jeollanam-do. However, Naju City has significantly expanded the criteria to include restaurants with annual sales of up to 300 million KRW, considering the real conditions faced by restaurant owners in management crisis, and has allocated an additional budget of 450 million KRW.

The support funds will be provided as Naju Love mobile gift certificates after March 12, following the application and eligibility review process. If mobile application is not possible, paper gift certificates will be provided as an alternative.

Eligible businesses must have been registered before December 16, 2024, the date Jeollanam-do announced its livelihood measures, and must still be operating as of the application date. However, businesses such as entertainment bars and those excluded from small business policy fund loans are not eligible for support.

Applications for the support fund can be submitted in person or by mail at the administrative welfare center of the town, township, or neighborhood where the business is located until the 28th. Required documents include an ID card, business registration certificate, income certificate, and health insurance contribution details by workplace. Detailed information can be found in the notices and announcements on the Naju City Hall website. For simplified taxpayers, only a copy of the business registration certificate and an ID card are required.

Mayor Yoon Byungtae stated, "We have expanded our own support criteria to annual sales of 300 million KRW, going beyond the Jeollanam-do public utility fee support project for small restaurants," and added, "We hope this will provide some help to small restaurant business owners who are particularly vulnerable to economic downturns and reduced consumption."

Meanwhile, Naju City is the first city-level local government in the province to provide 100,000 KRW per person as livelihood economic recovery support to overcome the economic crisis affecting people's livelihoods.
