On the 3rd, the Constitutional Court announced that the oral arguments for the dispute over authority filed by National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik against Acting President Choi will resume at 2 p.m. on the 10th. Additionally, the ruling date for the constitutional complaint filed by lawyer Kim Jeong-hwan of Dodam Law Firm on the same grounds has not been set and has been postponed.
Previously, the Constitutional Court had planned to deliver rulings on both the dispute over authority and the constitutional complaint at 2 p.m. that day. However, after the justices held a morning deliberation to discuss whether to issue the rulings, they decided to postpone. Acting President Choi's side had requested a resumption of oral arguments on the 31st of last month, stating that additional hearings were necessary regarding the dispute over authority.
Meanwhile, at a regular briefing held that morning, the Constitutional Court stated, "Even if a dispute over authority or constitutional complaint is upheld, failing to follow the intent of that decision violates the Constitution and laws," and clarified, "It is not that the Constitutional Court's decisions lack compulsory enforcement power, but that this does not mean the decisions can be disregarded."
