LG Electronics is officially launching its flagship product, the 'LG StanbyME 2,' in the domestic market. It has been improved to be easier to detach than the previous version, with enhanced picture quality and battery life, reflecting consumer demands.
The LG StanbyME 2 (27LX6) is a new product released after four years of the hit product LG StanbyME, which is regarded as pioneering the genre of 'portable lifestyle screens.'
LG Electronics explained that they incorporated customer feedback from the product planning stage for the sequel, designing the LG StanbyME 2 by strengthening its advantages and supplementing desired features.
Excellent mobility using moving wheels and convenient usability allowing viewing in various postures were considered distinctive advantages of the LG StanbyME, and these features have been significantly enhanced for greater convenience in the new product.
The LG StanbyME 2 allows the screen part to be easily detached from the stand with the push of a button, without complicated processes like unscrewing. The battery, previously built into the stand, has been moved to the screen part, enabling separate use when detached, and it can be conveniently charged via the USB-C port on the screen part.
By using a dedicated accessory to stand the detached screen part, users can enjoy content by placing it on desks or tables like a tablet PC. Combining the strap accessory and wall mount holder allows it to be hung on the wall and used as a picture frame or wall clock.
Customer feedback for better picture quality and longer usage time was also reflected. The StanbyME 2 is equipped with a 27-inch QHD (2560x1440) resolution display, providing significantly improved picture quality compared to the previous product (FHD display). It also features a high-capacity built-in battery that allows up to 4 hours of use without being connected to a power source.
The new product is equipped with the second generation of the Alpha 8 AI processor for picture and sound. The AI analyzes and corrects video and sound to deliver optimized images and surround sound for content. Additionally, the speakers are placed on the sides of the screen part, providing clearer sound than the rear-facing speakers of the previous model. It also supports Dolby's video technology Dolby Vision and immersive audio technology Dolby Atmos for an immersive viewing experience. When used together with the separately sold 'StanbyME Speaker,' it delivers richer sound.
The LG StanbyME 2 comes with the smart TV platform webOS. It supports online video services (OTT) and cloud gaming, and the screen can be rotated vertically to enjoy webtoons, short-form content, and more. Various themed clocks, calendars, posters, and even user-drawn pictures can be displayed as background images, serving as interior decor when hung on the wall.
Customer convenience has also been enhanced. Through far-field voice recognition, saying commands like "Hi LG, tell me the sports game results" or "Turn up the volume" will be recognized and executed by the microphone built into the product.
Connecting IT devices via the USB-C port enables data transfer and screen sharing. The power adapter is built into the bottom of the stand, making the installation space tidier than the previous version. The included magnetic remote control can be attached to the top of the product for easy storage. It is also compatible with LG smart TV AI remotes.
Earlier, the LG StanbyME 2 received top awards at CES 2025, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, recognized for its differentiated innovation by major IT media such as TechRadar, Home Theater Review, and PCWorld.
LG Electronics will begin pre-orders for the StanbyME 2 from the 5th to the 18th of this month, starting with a live broadcast at 8 PM on the LG Electronics online brand shop, and will officially launch it on the 21st. Pre-order customers will receive exclusive accessories worth 120,000 KRW and benefits worth 100,000 KRW through a review event.
The domestic shipment price of the StanbyME 2, including the moving wheel stand as the basic configuration, is 1,290,000 KRW. The new product is also available through LG Electronics' home appliance subscription service, which provides free A/S throughout the subscription period.
