The prosecution has extended the travel ban period for Jeon Seong-bae, a shaman known as ‘Geonjin Beopsa,’ who was indicted without detention on charges of receiving hundreds of millions of won from a preliminary candidate for local elections.
According to the legal community on the 31st, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office Virtual Asset Crime Joint Investigation Team (Head Park Geon-wook) applied for an extension of the travel ban period for Jeon, who is accused of violating the Political Funds Act, earlier this month and received approval from the Ministry of Justice.
The prosecution is understood to have obtained part of the records by issuing a communication warrant for the mobile phone seized from Jeon.
Earlier, on the 10th, the prosecution indicted Jeon without detention on charges of violating the Political Funds Act. Jeon is accused of receiving illegal political funds amounting to over 100 million won under the pretext of securing a nomination from a preliminary candidate who ran in the primary for the Liberty Korea Party candidate for the mayor of Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk, ahead of the 2018 local elections.
