Korean-American Lawyer Also Dies in U.S. Passenger Plane Accident... Passed Away Returning from Business Trip Ms. Kang Sera, who passed away in a passenger plane accident. Provided by the Clarksville Korean Association

Among the victims of the collision between a passenger plane and a helicopter near Washington DC on the 29th (local time) was a Korean-American lawyer.


According to the Korean-American community and U.S. media on the 31st, Sarah Lee Best (Korean name Kang Sera, 33), a lawyer at the Wilkinson Stekloff law firm in Washington, was involved in the accident while returning from a business trip with her colleague, lawyer Elizabeth Keith.


Beth Wilkinson, founder of Wilkinson Stekloff, expressed her condolences, saying, "My heart aches over this terrible tragedy," and added, "Sarah joined us last fall and brought energy to our team with her curiosity, kindness, and intelligence."


Attorney Kang majored in neuroscience and classical languages at Vanderbilt University and taught subjects including mathematics at a high school. She later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) Law School and worked as a district court judge before practicing as a lawyer. She graduated with high honors (summa cum laude) from law school. She was approaching her 10th wedding anniversary with her husband on the 21st of next month and had planned a trip to Hawaii in May, adding to the sorrow.


So far, a total of four Korean victims have been identified. Among the 67 victims were Korean-American teenage figure skater Gina Han and another Korean-American teenage male figure skater, Spencer Lane.
