Lee Byungno, the governor of Damyang County in Jeollanam-do, visited senior centers after the Lunar New Year holiday, the nation's biggest traditional holiday, to offer New Year's greetings and perform the traditional bow to the elderly.

On the 31st, starting with the Ojeong Senior Center in Damyang-eup, Governor Lee visited 12 senior centers in the area, checking on the well-being of the elderly who are facing difficulties due to the sudden drop in temperature and challenging economic conditions.

He also listened to the voices of the seniors through conversations and sought ways to reflect their feedback in county administration. He explained the 'Senior Hospital Escort Service Project,' which is being carried out as part of the core policy of rural welfare in the 8th popularly elected administration. The hospital escort service, which has received high satisfaction from residents, will be expanded to the Gwangju area starting this year. He also stated that efforts will be made to revitalize senior centers by creating smart senior centers and offering various leisure programs.

Governor Lee emphasized, "Today's visit to the senior centers was conducted to strengthen communication with residents and to hear directly about the difficulties faced by the elderly," adding, "We will actively reflect the diverse opinions of the elderly in county administration and do our best to complete rural welfare so that they can enjoy a healthy and comfortable old age in their hometown."
