On the 31st, Dangjin City in South Chungcheong Province and Dangjin Passenger Transportation Co., Ltd. announced that starting in February, a 16-seater small city bus will operate four times a day between Hapdeok Terminal and Hapdeok Market.
This measure aims to alleviate the inconvenience of having to use a private car or walk about 450 meters carrying heavy loads to travel between Hapdeok Terminal and Hapdeok Market.
Beginning February 1, the bus will run round trips four times a day, departing from Hapdeok Terminal at 8:40 a.m., 11:10 a.m., 2:50 p.m., and 4:10 p.m., taking about five minutes to reach Hapdeok Traditional Market.
Until now, there was no bus route between the central points of Hapdeok, Hapdeok Terminal and Hapdeok Market, mainly because Hapdeok Market Road is narrow and crowded with illegal parking and street vendors, making bus operation difficult.
The people who welcome this new city bus connection between the terminal and the market the most are elderly residents with mobility difficulties and the Hapdeok Merchants Association, which hopes to revitalize the market.
A city official said, "Although road conditions have not improved significantly, we were able to start operating a small bus as it was a long-cherished wish of the residents. We will continue to work with the merchants association to gradually improve road and transportation conditions."
