Up to 300,000 KRW for Households, Up to 700,000 KRW for Businesses
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam Province will continue its subsidy program for the installation of food waste reduction devices this year to reduce food waste and promote recycling.
Yangsan City's subsidy program for installing food waste reduction devices has been in operation since 2016, supporting the installation of 2,218 units with a total budget of 646 million KRW through 2024.
The subsidy targets household heads residing in Yangsan who install devices for home use, as well as business owners whose business locations are in Yangsan and who are registered with the Yangsan tax office, installing devices for commercial use. The devices must be quality-certified products with high reduction rates through heating, drying, or microbial fermentation.
The city supports 50% of the purchase price of the reduction device, up to a maximum of 300,000 KRW for household use and 700,000 KRW for commercial use. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from February 3, 2025, until the budget is exhausted.
Household heads or business owners wishing to receive the subsidy must purchase a quality-certified reduction device and apply to the Resource Circulation Division within one month of installation, bringing the required documents.
A Yangsan city official stated, “Through the subsidy program for installing food waste reduction devices, we encourage citizens to actively install these devices to reduce food waste generation and promote recycling.”
