Yeongju City "Apply for Farmer and Fisherman Allowance"... Until March 14

Applications for Farmer and Fisherman Allowance Accepted
One-Time Lump Sum Payment to Be Made by June

Yeongju City announced on the 31st that it will accept applications for the Farmer and Fisherman Allowance from February 1 to March 14.

Applications can be submitted in two ways: by visiting the administrative welfare centers in the applicant's town, township, or neighborhood, or online through the ‘Moiso Gyeongsangbuk-do’ app. Online applications are only available to business owners who received direct payments last year.

The Farmer and Fisherman Allowance is a system designed to support farmers who reside in Gyeongsangbuk-do and are actively engaged in agriculture and fisheries. Business owners of farms registered with agricultural, forestry, or fishery management information by December 31, 2023, are eligible to apply.

However, those with a comprehensive income from non-agricultural and fishery activities exceeding 37 million KRW in 2023, individuals who have fraudulently received subsidies such as direct payments within the last five years, public officials and employees of public institutions, and those who have been penalized for violating the Farmland Act, Mountainous Area Management Act, Livestock Epidemic Prevention Act, or Fisheries Act are excluded from eligibility.

After the application deadline, the city will conduct eligibility screening until April to finalize recipients and plans to provide 600,000 KRW (one-time payment) in Yeongju Love Gift Certificates by June 30. Payments can be collected at financial institutions chosen by the applicants, such as NongHyup Bank.

Additionally, business owners who received the public direct payment last year are exempt from submitting any documents when applying through the Moiso Gyeongsangbuk-do app.

Mayor Park Nam-seo of Yeongju said, “We hope that the Farmer and Fisherman Allowance support project will help ease the difficulties faced by farming households and invigorate the local economy. Starting in 2024, farmers residing in Yeongju who cultivate land in adjacent areas such as Yeongwol County and Danyang County are also eligible for the allowance, so we ask all eligible applicants to apply within the deadline without omission.”

The Farmer and Fisherman Allowance was first introduced in 2022 to maintain and enhance the public value of agriculture and fisheries, boost the pride of farmers and fishermen, and create a sustainable agricultural and fishery environment. Yeongju City plans to continue implementing various policies to provide practical support to farming households.
