Expanded and Relocated to the First Floor of Dobong-gu Office in February Last Year
Over 6,000 Residents Participated in Just 10 Months, with a 94% Satisfaction Rate
When searching for ‘Makerschool Dobong’ on various social networking services (SNS) such as blogs and YouTube, there is an abundance of posts sharing reviews, experiences, and information about the programs offered here.
Makerschool Dobong is a future talent development educational institution that possesses the largest scale of equipment and training facilities in the northeastern area of Seoul, and utilizes these resources to conduct various specialized programs for new industries.
In February last year, the district expanded and relocated Makerschool Dobong to the first floor of Dobong-gu Office to enhance future education infrastructure and expand educational opportunities. Since then, its growth has been remarkable, operating 25 programs across 7 fields 1,125 times within just over 10 months, attracting participation from more than 6,000 residents. The satisfaction rate among participants reached an impressive 94%.
Programs such as MakerTeens (youth support project), MakerPlanet (resident support project), entrepreneurship education, 4th industrial revolution instructor training courses, and maker equipment training were conducted. Programs like ‘Coding Drone,’ ‘Campaign Shorts,’ ‘ESG Upcycling Crafts,’ and ‘Wood Burning,’ which were established in response to requests from local youth, received great enthusiasm from participants.
It has also gained external recognition; in 2023, it won the third-place Excellence Award at the ‘3D Custom Content Creation Contest’ hosted by Korea University. The award was especially meaningful as a youth who had received ‘3D Maker’ education participated in the contest representing Makerschool Dobong and competed against university students and the general public.
A district official stated, “Going forward, we plan to continuously develop Makerschool Dobong’s education through various competitions, collaborations with related organizations, universities, and companies, and strengthen connections with the local community so that youth and residents can gain diverse experiences.”
The doors of Makerschool Dobong are always open. Any resident interested in various education programs utilizing 4th industrial revolution equipment can participate. Detailed information about the programs is available by phone inquiry.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Makerschool Dobong is a space that shares infinite possibilities and a leading educational institution for the 4th industrial revolution in Dobong-gu. It is growing day by day as Dobong’s science mecca nurturing young entrepreneurs and local talent.” He added, “This year, we plan to actively support the discovery of many creative ideas from Dobong youth scientists by expanding and operating various educational experiences.”
