Recruitment of 63 Reading Clubs from January 22 to February 5
Subsidies of 250,000 to 400,000 KRW per Club for Book Purchases, Field Experiences, and More
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will recruit 63 reading clubs by February 5 and provide subsidies.
The reading club development project was established to cultivate residents' reading habits and spread a culture of reading in the community.
Selected reading clubs can receive subsidies necessary for reading activities such as book purchases, field experiences, and refreshments. The amount varies from 250,000 KRW to 400,000 KRW depending on last year's performance, this year's project plan, and achievements.
In addition, following last year, this year as well, support will be provided for the ‘Leader Training Course’ to strengthen the capabilities of leaders who will lead reading club meetings, and ‘Reading Discussion Consulting’ to improve the quality of reading meetings. Outstanding active clubs will be provided with customized reading education by dispatching reading instructors.
Applications are open to clubs with at least five members, where two-thirds or more of the total members are residents or workers in the district. Selected clubs must hold at least five meetings.
Reading clubs wishing to participate can download the application form from the ‘Notices’ section on the Geumcheon-gu Office website or from the local subsidy management system Botam-e website, fill it out, and apply through the Botam-e website by February 5.
Based on the submitted project plans, the district will review eligibility and support scale, and after deliberation by the district local subsidy review committee in March, will finalize the selection of reading clubs.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “Through the reading club support project, we hope residents experience various reading activities and enjoy reading books,” adding, “We will continue to support reading activities to become a book-reading city, Geumcheon.”
Meanwhile, last year, 56 out of 57 reading clubs contributed to revitalizing the local reading culture by holding five or more meetings without any mid-term dropout.
