Daejeon Sees 19.6% Decrease in Fire Incidents Last Year Fire that occurred in Daedeok District last July / Daejeon Fire Department

The Daejeon Fire Department announced that there were 821 fire incidents last year, resulting in 8 deaths, a total of 58 casualties, and property damage amounting to over 7.2 billion won.


Compared to 2023, the number of fires decreased by 19.6%, casualties by 9.4%, and property damage by 96.1% respectively.


By location, most fires occurred in non-residential facilities (34.8%), followed by residential facilities (27.8%), and other outdoor areas (25.8%). In terms of cause, carelessness accounted for 45.9%, electrical issues for 29.8%, and unknown causes for 11.0%.


An official from the Daejeon Fire Department stated, "Although the number of fires has significantly decreased compared to the previous year, many fires are still caused by carelessness. In 2025, we will further strengthen fire prevention education and public awareness to minimize fire damage."
