Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) is conducting a public call for seasonal empathetic phrases from residents through the ‘2025 Gonggam Yongsan’ project. The ‘empathetic phrases’ are phrases proposed directly by residents, newly established this year to create a culture of communication within the local community and provide moments of rest amid busy daily lives.
The call is open to residents, workers, and students located in Yongsan-gu. The content should be phrases that can give empathy and hope to residents according to seasonal themes, and must be written within 25 characters.
This year’s seasonal themes are ▲ hopeful and touching phrases conveying the warmth of spring ▲ cool and refreshing phrases to overcome the hot season ▲ hopeful phrases to overcome the loneliness of the melancholic autumn ▲ phrases to wrap up the year 2025.
The district is currently accepting submissions for the first quarter spring theme until the 12th of next month. Applications can be submitted via the QR code on promotional materials.
Submitted works will undergo two rounds of evaluation. In the first round, about the top 10 works will be selected based on seasonality, originality, emotional impact, and readability. In the second round, evaluations will be conducted by external experts (40%) and residents through social networking services (SNS) (60%). Ultimately, three works per quarter (1 grand prize, 2 excellence awards), totaling 12 works annually, will be selected.
Winners will receive prize money, and the winning works will be transformed into design images through resident reporter sketches. To share the meaning with many residents, the district plans to distribute these images through various media such as the district newsletter, SNS channels, and digital bulletin boards. For more details, please refer to the Yongsan-gu website.
District Mayor Park Hee-young said, “In these difficult times, I want to share hope and warmth with residents,” and added, “We will continue to build a Yongsan that actively communicates with its residents.”
