Lee Junseok, a member of the Reform New Party, strongly criticized the election fraud conspiracy theory, stating that it is "bringing international disgrace upon ourselves."
On January 28, Lee posted on his social media account, "At a recent press conference, I declared that unless we confront the election fraud conspiracy theory currently being discussed in Korea head-on, there will be no future for Korean politics. To resolve this confusion and reveal the truth, I have prepared an in-depth analysis video," and included a link to a YouTube video.
He explained, "In this video, attorney Lee Donho and I personally address each of the points raised by those promoting the conspiracy theory, and we break down the key points of the Supreme Court’s ruling on former lawmaker Min Kyungwook’s lawsuit to nullify the election results." He continued, "All claims regarding election fraud have already been logically refuted through the Supreme Court’s decision, and the facts have been settled beyond further controversy." He added, "However, there are still groups who continue to perpetuate this conspiracy theory in order to gain financial and political benefits, misleading and confusing the public. What is even more serious is that not only did the president at the time believe the election fraud conspiracy theory and attempt to declare martial law, but even during the impeachment proceedings, baseless claims of election fraud continued to be made, resulting in international embarrassment."
Lee stated, "This situation poses a serious threat to democracy and the rule of law in our country. If you are alarmed by the damage to our national reputation caused by the election fraud theory, I urge you to watch the video and check the facts. Whether at home, at work, at school, or online, you must logically refute the arguments of election fraud conspiracy theorists in each of your respective environments. This is the way to put an early end to this low-level political controversy in Korea." He went on to say, "Recently, I have repeatedly requested direct debates with Hwang Kyoahn, the former party leader and a key figure behind the election fraud theory, but he has continued to avoid them with various excuses, which is deeply frustrating." He appealed, "Your support is needed so that this issue can be resolved quickly through rational debate and public discussion."
He also emphasized, "Korea is currently in an era divided between intelligence and anti-intellectualism. Your active attention and participation are crucial so that the power of intelligence can overwhelm anti-intellectualism." In conclusion, he said, "I hope you will watch the video and share it widely on social media. I will do my utmost to resolve this issue," adding, "Your support and participation will be a great help in revealing the truth."
