Trump Mentioned 'Hanguk Setakgi': "If I Hadn't Imposed Tariffs, Everyone Would Have Failed"

On the 27th (local time), President Trump spoke at the Republican Federal House Conference held at his golf club in Florida, stating, "Foreign producers have not contributed at all to this country's growth or development."

At the event, President Trump reiterated his stance that foreign companies building factories in the U.S. would receive tax benefits, but those that do not would face tariffs.

He cited pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and steel as industries subject to tariffs, saying, "If I had not imposed large-scale steel tariffs during my first term, there would be no steel plants in the U.S." He added, "If tariffs had not been imposed on washing machines and dryers, all the companies in Ohio would have gone bankrupt."

President Trump said, "They were about to close factories in Ohio because Korea was dumping washing machines and other products," and noted, "We imposed a 50% tariff, which was raised to 75% and then 100%." He further mentioned, "Tariffs will also be imposed on military-essential items such as steel, aluminum, and copper," adding, "We will environmentally secure rare earth minerals to bring production back to the U.S."

Regarding China's AI startup DeepSeek releasing a cheaper chatbot than U.S. big tech, he said, "It is a positive development and an asset," and added, "If that (DeepSeek's AI development) is true and factual, it is good because the same results can be achieved without spending a lot of money." President Trump stated, "Instead of spending billions of dollars, less will be spent, and I hope the Trump administration finds the same solution," adding, "Hopefully, it will serve as a wake-up call for American industry."

He said, "Last week, I signed an executive order to repeal Joe Biden's destructive AI regulations. AI companies can now focus on becoming the best once again," and added, "We will leverage tech companies to dominate the future in unprecedented ways."

Referring to his announcement the previous day about imposing immediate high tariffs on Colombia for non-cooperation in deportation operations against illegal immigrants, he said, "If they do not cooperate, they will pay a very high economic price, and we will impose massive tariffs and other sanctions."

Additionally, he announced plans to sign executive orders to immediately begin constructing an Iron Dome similar to Israel's air defense system in the U.S., and to remove transgender ideology from the military.
