"Reactionary Forces of Dictatorship Will Persist"
"Democracy Is Passing the Final Stretch"

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 28th, "I will deeply engrave the aspirations of the people in my heart and take the lead in opening a new future by honoring the will of the people."

Lee Jae-myung "It's Not Over Yet, We Must Stay Alert... Our People Will Discover Their Greatness" Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, posted a lengthy message titled "Because There Are Great Citizens" on Facebook on the 28th.

On the same day, Lee posted on Facebook under the title "Because There Is a Great People," stating, "Democracy in the Republic of Korea is passing through the most difficult yet the 'final stretch' to witness a new world," and added, "To our people who have become the path themselves at the end of a road we thought was finished, let us join forces and overcome the last hurdle together."

He said, "At this critical crossroads, I am confident that we will overcome the pains and ultimately demonstrate Korea's potential to the world," and "Because our great people have already shown the image of the 'better world' we will create." He continued, "Cheering sticks of different colors harmonized into a lively chorus to prevent the regression of history," and "Our people will dispel the darkness of rebellion with that brilliant light of hands and awaken the 'Agora' that has been dormant in antiquity."

Lee stated, "The renaissance of 'people-centered direct democracy' that will unfold with the revival of the Agora requires participation and trust of its members as essential conditions," and "The Kisses protesters who overcame the harsh cold with each other's warmth, the 'hot pack' cooperation and 'heating bus' solidarity of citizens who want to be together in spirit even when physically restrained, and the 'prepayment' in Yeouido and Hannam-dong that inherits the rice balls of Geumnam-ro ? we have already confirmed participation and trust in the process of overcoming rebellion and are writing the narrative of the renaissance."

He also said, "Since it is not over yet, we must remain vigilant. As history tells us, the reaction of dictatorship, anti-democracy, and extremist forces will continue until the very last moment," and "But I believe that the darker the night, the closer the dawn, and the higher the mountain we climb, the stronger the wind." He wrote, "At the threshold of the new year, we will soon end today's misfortune and rediscover how great our people are," and added, "I will strive even harder so that it can be a year full of hope and joy for all the people."
