According to the legal community on the 23rd, Judge Bae Gu-min of the Jeju District Court Criminal Division 2 recently sentenced the 60-year-old Chinese national A, who was indicted without detention on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (filming using a camera, etc.), to a fine of 5 million won.

A is accused of illegally filming the body of a flight attendant multiple times using a mobile phone on a Korean national flight from Beijing to Jeju around 1 p.m. on September 9 last year. During the trial, A admitted all charges, stating that he filmed because she was pretty. A’s defense attorney appealed for leniency at the previous sentencing hearing, saying, "The defendant regrets his wrongdoing," and "He committed the crime in an excited mood because it was his first overseas trip since birth."
