Gyeonggi Shared Schools are continuing an in-depth winter vacation program under the theme of "Beyond simple experiences to learning, and beyond learning to career paths."

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) announced on the 27th that 1,486 students from 3rd grade elementary to 2nd grade high school, along with out-of-school youth of the same age group, are participating in winter vacation programs at 92 Gyeonggi Shared Schools.


This winter vacation, programs in personality development, mathematics and convergent science, culture and arts, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology, physical education, and humanities and social studies are being operated until February 28 in the regions of Goyang, Gwangmyeong, Guri, Gimpo, Namyangju, Dongducheon, Seongnam, Yeoncheon, Yongin, Uiwang, Uijeongbu, Paju, Pyeongtaek, and Pocheon.


In Pocheon, Daejin University and CHA University of Science and Technology are operating "University-Linked Campus Shared Schools" for 1st and 2nd grade high school students, offering biomedical science experiments and mobile app programming.


At Gimpo’s "Edutech Shared School with Artificial Intelligence," teacher research groups are running programs such as MapleStory game coding and building AI autonomous smart cars. Students are actively participating without any absences even during the vacation.


Uijeongbu, which operates the most programs, is running the highly rated "Seonbi Culture Training Personality Program" and "Korean Traditional Music Orchestra" programs from last year. They have newly opened the "Learning Leap Seasonal Semester Math Coaching" to support students’ academic improvement during the vacation.


Additionally, at Yongin Mirai Shared School, which has the highest student participation in Gyeonggi Province, programs such as the "Taekwondo Poomsae Advanced Class" with professors from Yongin University and national representatives, and the "Dream Shared School" physical education program for special education students are being conducted to provide customized education. Various programs like Smart Farm Creator and Mirai Youth Reporters are also offered, receiving great responses from parents.


Kim Jin-su, the 1st Deputy Superintendent of the Provincial Office of Education, stated, "Since Gyeonggi Shared Schools have been selected as an excellent case for reducing private education, they play a significant role in alleviating private education costs and closing the educational gap." He added, "We will take greater interest and actively support to ensure that Gyeonggi Shared Schools can be a place for each and every student together with the community."
