On the afternoon of the 26th, Chief Judge Kang Hyuk-seong of the Seoul Western District Court held a pre-arrest detention hearing for suspect A, who is charged with joint residential intrusion under the Act on Punishment of Violent Crimes. After the hearing, he issued an arrest warrant citing "risk of flight." The detention review for suspect B was also dismissed, stating "no grounds for the request." A total of 62 people have been detained for the storming of the Western District Court on the 18th and 19th.
The legal team representing those arrested during the Western District Court incident released a statement on the same day, claiming, "According to some media reports, police received numerous warnings signaling the precursor to the incident starting nine hours before it occurred, but Acting Commissioner Lee Ho-young of the National Police Agency either took no action or even reduced security personnel," adding, "This could constitute dereliction of duty."
The legal team further stated, "If the police had not cleared the way at that time, it would have been difficult for citizens and youths to enter the building," and added, "It is also hard to understand why the police hastily withdrew from the entrance for some reason."
