Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to experience a significant drop in temperature starting on the 27th, when the Lunar New Year holiday begins, with cold weather accompanied by snow and rain continuing into the following day.


In Gwangju and Jeonnam, between the morning and afternoon of that day, wet and heavy snow is expected to fall at a rate of 1 to 3 cm per hour (up to about 5 cm in some areas), with the possibility of a heavy snow advisory being issued. During this period, a total snowfall of 5 to 10 cm (over 15 cm in some areas) is forecast. The expected precipitation during the same period is around 5 to 20 mm.


The morning's lowest temperatures are expected to be -1°C in Jangseong, Gokseong, Hampyeong, Naju, Hwasun, Yeongam, and Boseong; 0°C in Yeonggwang, Muan, Gurye, Haenam, Gangjin, and Jangheung; 1°C in Gwangju, Shinan, Suncheon, Mokpo, Jindo, and Goheung; 2°C in Wando and Gwangyang; and 3°C in Yeosu.


The day's highest temperatures will be 6°C in Gwangyang and Goheung; 5°C in Jangheung, Gangjin, Wando, Jindo, Shinan, Suncheon, and Yeosu; 4°C in Gwangju, Jangseong, Damyang, Gurye, Hampyeong, Muan, Naju, Mokpo, and Yeongam; and 3°C in Hwasun, Gokseong, and Yeonggwang, showing a lower distribution compared to the previous day.


Waves on the sea are expected to reach 1.5 to 3 meters on the West Sea coast and 0.5 to 1.5 meters on the South Sea coast. Fine and ultrafine dust levels are expected to remain at 'normal' levels.


An official from the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration stated, "Rain or snow is expected, and in most areas of Gwangju and Jeonnam, heavy snowfall may cause icy roads or black ice, so we ask that you secure a safe distance and drive slowly to ensure traffic safety."
