Hong Jun-pyo: "Yoon Investigation Chaos Must Be Reexamined... If Judicial Order Is Disrupted, the Country Will Collapse" (Comprehensive)

"Public Opinion Trials Should End with Park Geun-hye Alone"

Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, raised his voice regarding the investigation of President Yoon Suk-yeol for treason and the issuance of an arrest warrant, stating, "This chaos must be thoroughly re-investigated if we come back to power, and those involved, regardless of their status, must be severely punished."

On the 25th, Mayor Hong said on his Facebook, "If the judicial order is disrupted, the country will collapse."

He emphasized, "The atrocity of those responsible for investigating and trying a country's president arbitrarily interpreting and enforcing the law must never happen again," adding, "The harsh punishment by a public opinion trial should end with former President Park Geun-hye alone."

He also stated, "The consolidation or abolition of investigative authority must be carried out to prevent investigative agencies from engaging in hyena-like competition over investigative rights."

Earlier, Mayor Hong had strongly criticized the dismissal of the request to extend President Yoon's detention period. On his Facebook the previous day, Hong pointed out, "Is treason such a light crime to be handled so frivolously?" and added, "From the start, I said it was not treason, but they quickly moved under the orders of Lee Jae-myung (leader of the Democratic Party of Korea), and now they got what they deserved."

He continued, "The judge issued an invalid warrant, the Corruption Investigation Office prosecutor forcibly detained the president with this warrant, and the Corruption Investigation Office, which has no investigative authority, could not conduct any investigation and referred the case to the prosecution," adding, "The prosecution applied for an extension of the detention period without reviewing relevant laws, was dismissed, and now they say they will indict without investigation. I am even starting to think about abolishing the prosecution's investigative authority."
