The average competition rate for this year's national civil service Grade 5 open competitive recruitment and diplomatic candidate selection exam was recorded at 34.6 to 1. The competition rate declined again following last year.
According to the Ministry of Personnel Management on the 25th, a total of 12,005 applicants applied for the Grade 5 and diplomatic exams during the application period from the 20th to the 24th, for 347 planned positions.
The competition rates by recruitment category were 37.9 to 1 for Grade 5 administrative positions, 36.2 to 1 for diplomatic candidates, and 26.0 to 1 for Grade 5 science and technology positions.
Over the past five years, the competition rates for Grade 5 and diplomatic exams have continuously declined as follows: △2021: 43.3 to 1 △2022: 38.4 to 1 △2023: 35.3 to 1 △2024: 35.1 to 1.
By detailed recruitment units, the prosecution position in the administrative category recorded the highest competition rate at 130.5 to 1, and the disaster prevention and safety position in the science and technology category recorded 62.0 to 1.
The electronics position in the science and technology category, which is being selected for the first time this year, had 89 applicants for 3 positions, showing a competition rate of 29.7 to 1.
The average age of applicants was 29.3 years, slightly higher than last year's 29.1 years. By age group, those aged 20?29 were the largest at 7,632 (63.6%), followed by 30?39 at 3,390 (28.2%), 40?49 at 844 (7.0%), 50 and above at 126 (1.1%), and under 20 at 13 (0.1%).
The first exam will be held on March 8 nationwide in five regions (Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Daejeon). The results of the first exam will be announced on April 11 through the Cyber National Examination Center.
