Kim Kardashian Faces Backlash After Posting Melania Trump Photo
Democratic Supporters Criticize: "Now We Know What Kind of Person You Are"
Global influencer Kim Kardashian reportedly lost 150,000 followers in an instant after posting a photo of First Lady Melania Trump on her Instagram.
On the 23rd (local time), the New York Post (NYP) reported that on the 20th, Kardashian posted a photo of Melania Trump attending the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump on her Instagram story.
Socially Powerful, an influencer marketing agency, analyzed that after the photo of Melania Trump was posted, Kardashian's Instagram followers, which had been 358 million, decreased by 144,963.
Kardashian also reportedly lost 9,553 followers on X.
After posting the photo, Kardashian faced criticism from some Democratic-leaning netizens. They left comments on Kardashian's Instagram such as, "At least now we know exactly what kind of person you are," and "Don't watch their show, don't buy their products. Hit them hard."
One Instagram user expressed displeasure that Kardashian posted a photo of Melania Trump but did not post one of the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. The day of President Trump's inauguration is a federal holiday honoring King.

Kardashian is known to have a friendship with Ivanka Trump, President Trump's eldest daughter. Last fall, Ivanka made headlines by attending Kardashian's birthday party.
In 2018, Kardashian also lobbied President Trump to release Alice Marie Johnson (63), who had been sentenced to life imprisonment as a nonviolent drug offender. Following Kardashian's request, the White House unusually announced that "Johnson is a victim of a flawed justice system" and would consider reducing her sentence due to her exemplary behavior in prison.
Later, in April 2020, Kardashian stated that she would not publicly support any presidential candidate and would instead focus on criminal justice reform.
