Special 10% Discount Sale of 10 Billion KRW Worth of Pohang Sarang Cards Begins on February 3
Significant Expansion of 10% Discount Issuance...
Promoting Consumption in Local Shopping Districts and Revitalizing the Local Economy
Pohang City will start a special 10% discount sale of card-type and mobile Pohang Sarang Gift Certificates worth 10 billion KRW from the 3rd of next month.
On the 4th, the city began a special 10% discount sale of 35 billion KRW worth of Pohang Sarang Cards (card-type and mobile Pohang Sarang Gift Certificates), and on the 14th, it received a positive response by selling 15 billion KRW worth of paper-type Pohang Sarang Gift Certificates at a 10% discount.
To overcome the depressed consumer sentiment caused by the ongoing domestic and international economic downturn and to revive the local economy, the city issued 50 billion KRW in January, which sold out completely, and in February, it is focusing on establishing a virtuous economic cycle by selling 10 billion KRW at a 10% special discount.
This sales event will allow charging through the mobile app (iM Shop) starting at 00:15 on February 3rd, and at 107 sales agency points during business hours.
The individual purchase limit for the Pohang Sarang Card is up to 500,000 KRW, with a holding limit of 700,000 KRW, and paper-type gift certificates will not be sold.
The financial institutions acting as sales agents for the Pohang Sarang Card include iM Bank, local agricultural and fisheries cooperatives, Saemaeul Geumgo, credit unions, and the forestry cooperative. These can be checked on the Pohang City Hall website or the mobile app (iM Shop). It is convenient to check the card balance in advance on the mobile app (iM Shop) before charging.
The Pohang Sarang Card can be used at about 22,000 affiliated stores within the region, including restaurants, retail, and service industries, as well as at the Pohang-type taxi call platform, Taboso Taxi. Small business owners registered as affiliated stores benefit from increased sales due to more consumer visits and reduced fees for card affiliation.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “The early expansion of the 10% Pohang Sarang Gift Certificate issuance at the beginning of the year is expected to revive the depressed consumer sentiment and invigorate the local shopping districts.” He added, “This year, we will do our best to promote policies so that the difficult local economy can recover through increased sales of small business owners, who are the core of the local economy, and to support citizens’ economic lives.”
