Gwangjin-gu Supports Online Learning for 500 Elementary School Students

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating an online learning support program for elementary school students, a real-time interactive class designed to stimulate students' interest in learning and enhance academic abilities.

Accordingly, a total of 500 students from grades 3 to 6 in local elementary schools will be recruited, including 450 general students and 50 socially disadvantaged students. The program is conducted in two-month courses with 100 students per session. Students can enroll by paying a fee of 20,000 KRW, while socially disadvantaged groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, and single-parent families receive full tuition support.

Students choose one major subject among Korean, English, and Mathematics for 30 minutes twice a week through Gwangjin-gu's exclusive online education system, participating in interactive classes. The lessons reflect the recently revised curriculum, and students can ask questions in real time if they have any doubts during learning. Each teacher handles up to 15 students to maximize learning efficiency.

The district plans to recruit the first session in February and start the program in March. Afterward, applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis every even month, with a total of five sessions running until December.

Applications can be made on the Gwangjin-gu Elementary School Students Online Learning website.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I hope this learning program will provide elementary students with an opportunity to develop interest in their studies and self-directed learning skills,” adding, “We will continue to strive to create an educational environment where growing students can realize their potential through diverse learning resources.”
