Goryeong County (Governor Lee Nam-cheol) held a shopping event on the 24th, the day of the Lunar New Year market, at Goryeong Daegaya Market, with the participation of about 500 people including public officials, employees of related organizations and groups, and company executives. They conducted a campaign to promote the use of traditional markets and local stores.
This event was held to revitalize the local economy of traditional markets and local stores, which are struggling due to high inflation and weakened consumer sentiment.
Public officials and employees of organizations and groups purchased over 30 million won worth of Onnuri gift certificates for the shopping event, buying ritual supplies and daily necessities, which is expected to provide practical support to local stores.
Governor Lee Nam-cheol of Goryeong County urged all residents to actively participate to breathe new life into local stores, saying, “We will focus administrative efforts to make Goryeong a vibrant place full of youthful energy through the revitalization of traditional markets and local stores.” He added, “We will promote various policies within this year, including the establishment of two additional youth startup spaces in traditional markets, a 2.9 billion won project to improve parking facilities in traditional markets, a 100 million won project to renovate aging facilities in traditional markets, and facility improvements for small business owners, to strengthen the revitalization of traditional markets and local stores.”
