The Resident Jury Panel system allows residents to directly experience local issues and participate in county administration, playing a role in reviewing the implementation status of pledge projects or deliberating on pledge projects that require adjustment.

To ensure representativeness of the resident jurors, Yeongdeok-gun selected the final 30 members through telephone interviews from 89 candidates who expressed willingness to participate, chosen via a random ARS telephone draw among residents aged 18 and older registered in the area over the past month.

The Resident Jury Panel includes residents ranging in age from their 20s to their 70s, representing various age groups and expected to provide a platform for diverse and rich discussions.

The Resident Jury Panel will focus discussions on 10 out of a total of 46 projects among Yeongdeok-gun’s 8th term public pledges, including 11 projects in regional development, 10 in culture and tourism, 6 in agriculture, fisheries, and livestock, 18 in education, health, and welfare, and 1 in communication administration.

County Governor Kim Gwang-yeol stated, “Public pledge projects are promises made to the residents, and from the implementation process to the results, residents must directly participate and review them so that the achievements can be realized as a success for the entire region, which is the true nourishment of local autonomy. We will do our best to create a new Yeongdeok where all residents are happy based on open communication and field-centered administration.”

Yeongdeok-gun was the only county-level local government in the province to receive the highest grade (SA) for two consecutive years in the nationwide local government pledge implementation evaluation announced every April by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters last year. Additionally, in July last year, it won the Excellence Award in the county-level category for responding to demographic changes at the ‘2024 National Basic Local Government Heads Manifesto Best Practices Competition’ held in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, with participation from 148 basic local governments.
