Launch of the Glocal Alliance University
First Joint Project Begins
Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 24th that it conducted a Glocal Alliance University camp for the ‘Future Mobility Professional Workforce Training Program’ together with Dongseo University.
The event, held as an overnight camp over two days on the 22nd and 23rd, selected ‘Future Mobility’ as the focused development field to cultivate specialized talent proposed by the two universities.
To enhance understanding in this field, representatives from leading automobile companies based in Busan, such as Renault Korea, Corens EM, and Jogwang Yoturn, introduced their companies, and sessions were held to deepen understanding of Busan’s leading companies through future mobility education and talent recruitment fairs in Busan.
Additionally, to raise interest and understanding of excellent companies in the Busan area, students were introduced to the ‘Top 100 Companies Attractive to Youth’ carefully selected by Busan City and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency.
The event, held in West Busan, the location of the two universities and the center of Busan’s industry, continued with a visit to Ulsan, where participants toured Hyundai Motor’s Plant 3 and the export pier, experiencing firsthand the heritage of the world’s largest single automobile factory.
Various special lectures were also conducted, including ‘Smart Factory Job Training’ and ‘Understanding the Future Mobility Industry’ held at Mauna Resort in Gyeongju.
Time was also provided to alleviate students’ concerns about employment through mentoring with senior employees currently working in the field.
Mentoring sessions, conducted in small groups, involved recent hires from Hyundai Motor, Seoyon E-Hwa, Sungwoo Hitech, DN Automotive, and Hwasung Corporation, who directly participated in the training to help resolve questions such as key skills they used when getting employed.
Lee Sun-ho (4th year, Department of Mechanical Engineering) from Dong-A University, who participated in the program, said, “Participating in this Future Mobility Professional Workforce Training Program was a valuable opportunity to share information with friends from other universities.”
Lee Jung-bin (3rd year, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) from Dongseo University said, “I was unsure about what to prepare during the vacation, but through this camp, I clearly understood what I need to prepare going forward,” adding, “I will secure a job at my target company in a year.”
Shin Yong-taek, Director of Student and Employment Support at Dong-A University, who organized the event, said, “It is very meaningful that this is the first ‘Specialized Talent Training Program’ conducted jointly by Dong-A University and Dongseo University after being selected as a Glocal University,” and added, “We will do our best to develop and operate more programs to cultivate glocal talent.”
The two universities plan to collaborate to nurture talent in various fields, including Busan-style talent development programs.
