Recruitment of Participating Businesses from February 3 to 28
Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 24th that it will recruit participating businesses from February 3 to 28 as part of the ‘2025 Paju City Signboard Improvement Support Project’.
The ‘Signboard Improvement Support Project’ is a program that supports the replacement costs of illegal, unsightly, and old signboards. It targets businesses that wish to replace their signboards with wall-mounted signboards using the ‘Paju City Pretty Signboard Contest Award-winning Designs’ [front? LED].
Paju City will support the signboard replacement costs for 30 businesses within the city, providing up to 2.5 million KRW per business (with a 10% self-payment) from the ‘Paju City Outdoor Advertising Development Fund’.
Eligible applicants will be finally selected at the end of March after a first quantitative evaluation and a second qualitative evaluation (reviewed by the Outdoor Advertising Deliberation Committee).
The first quantitative evaluation includes six criteria: △degree of aging and unsightliness △effectiveness △rationality of replacement cost △willingness to proceed (self-payment rate), among others. The second qualitative evaluation consists of nine criteria, including △reflection of the excellent designs from the Pretty Signboard Contest △completeness △landscape improvement effect, etc.
Those wishing to apply should refer to the announcement board on the Paju City website and submit the required documents to the advertising work officer at the administrative welfare center of each eup/myeon area based on the business location, or to the Architecture Design Division at City Hall for dong areas.
Jang Hye-hyun, head of the Architecture Design Division, encouraged participation, saying, “This project aims to improve old signboards, widely spread Paju City’s signboard culture ‘Sosodam (少小淡)’ that harmonizes with the urban environment, and reduce the economic burden on small business owners.”
