Comprehensive Measures Covering Livelihood and Safety
Full Commitment to Local Economic Revitalization with "All-in for Livelihood"
24-Hour Disaster Control Room Operation and Emergency Medical System Activation
Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 24th that it will implement the "2025 Lunar New Year Holiday Comprehensive Plan" for six days from the 25th to the 30th during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The city plans to focus administrative efforts to ensure that citizens can spend a safe and comfortable holiday by organizing 16 task forces in four areas: livelihood, convenience, safety, and transportation, deploying 256 personnel.
In particular, Paju City will promote the payment of livelihood recovery and living stability support funds, providing 100,000 KRW per citizen in local currency, while simultaneously increasing the Paju Pay recharge limit to 1,000,000 KRW throughout January. By stimulating consumption during the Lunar New Year holiday, the city aims to revitalize the local economy, which has been frozen due to domestic demand stagnation and employment downturn.
To guarantee legal holidays for sanitation workers, the disposal of household waste will be prohibited from the 28th to 6 p.m. on the 30th. However, in areas equipped with automatic collection facilities, waste can be disposed of normally through these facilities. The city plans to deploy 15 mobile teams during the holiday period to promptly handle inconveniences and complaints related to waste.
For citizen safety, a 24-hour disaster control room will be operated to monitor weather conditions such as heavy snow and strong winds and respond proactively. Safety inspections of rivers and large construction sites will be conducted before the holiday.
Additionally, to minimize medical service gaps during the holiday, an emergency medical system will be activated. The city will operate an emergency medical situation room during the Lunar New Year holiday to respond swiftly in case of emergencies. Four emergency medical institutions and emergency medical facilities in Paju will operate 24-hour emergency rooms during the holiday. Urgent medical institutions in the city will operate as follows: 111 locations on the 27th, 32 on the 28th, 14 on the 29th, and 34 on the 30th. Detailed information can be found on the Paju City Hall website.
Finally, the city plans to ensure convenience and safety in transportation during the holiday by supporting traffic control in congested areas, dispatching emergency response teams for road facility damage, and opening 38 public parking lots free of charge.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju said, "Although the ongoing economic downturn is increasing the burden on ordinary citizens, we will devise economic measures to restore vitality during the Lunar New Year holiday and do our best to ensure that citizens can spend a safe and comfortable holiday through thorough health quarantine and safety management."
