Korea Southern Power Co., Ltd. held this contest to fulfill corporate social responsibility and address regional issues in Busan, where its headquarters is located, and recently announced the results.

In this contest, after evaluation by social contribution experts, Yun Seok-hwan’s idea of the ‘Green Bus Stop (combining bus stops with smart farms)’ won the Grand Prize.

This idea proposes applying smart farms and solar power generation systems to bus stops to create energy self-sufficient rest areas, which was recognized as an outstanding idea among participants.

It was acknowledged for suggesting that by utilizing the urban accessibility of bus stops and the characteristics of public facilities, crops grown in the smart farms could be linked to local distribution networks to revitalize the regional economy, while simultaneously improving the environment and supporting public transportation.

The Excellence Award was given to Hwang Yu-ha’s idea of ‘Eco-friendly Upcycling Baseball Goods Production (making cheering tools using waste plastics from baseball stadiums and other sources).’

This idea, inspired by Busan’s strong interest in baseball, proposed producing sustainable baseball goods by utilizing marine and baseball stadium plastic waste, receiving high praise.

Yun Seok-hwan and Hwang Yu-ha, together with Professor Oh Young-sam (Social Welfare major), planned and submitted this proposal with support from the National University Development Project titled ‘The Role and Participation of National Universities in Promoting Community Health after COVID-19: Focusing on Community Health and Welfare Living Labs,’ achieving excellent results.
