Free Activities Including Calendar Making and Family Movie Theater
Jeonju City, North Jeolla Province, will hold a variety of Seollal cultural events for visitors at the Jeonju History Museum and the Eojin Museum from the 28th to the 30th.
According to the city on the 24th, the Jeonju History Museum has prepared a range of hands-on programs under the theme "Smoothly to the Museum Even on Seollal," allowing families to enjoy the holiday together.
Main programs include making a 2025 New Year calendar, creating kites with New Year's wishes, traditional play zones, and a family movie theater. All activities will be offered free of charge during the holiday. In particular, the "Drawing the New Year" program allows families to make calendars together, while the "Carrying Good Fortune" program offers an experience where participants can put their wishes into a lucky pouch.
In addition, during the Seollal holidays, the Jeonju History Museum will provide a family movie theater and various traditional games, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the festive atmosphere. The Eojin Museum will also present a "snake" keyring-making activity and a Seollal mini-exhibition titled "The Royal Family's New Year Celebration" to commemorate the Year of the Blue Snake (Eulsanyeon). The "snake" keyring-making event will be held on the 28th and 29th, limited to 300 pieces per day.
At the Eojin Museum, visitors can also participate in traditional activities such as decorating Ipchuncheop (seasonal greeting scrolls for the beginning of spring) and playing Yutjeom, a fortune-telling game using Yut sticks, in anticipation of the upcoming Ipchun.
Kim Sunok, Director of the Jeonju Museum, said, "To celebrate the major holiday of Seollal, we have prepared a wide variety of hands-on programs for the whole family to enjoy together. We hope to provide a joyful experience for all visitors to the museum."
