On the 24th, the VC Association announced, "The 2nd Chairman Candidate Recommendation Committee (Chairman Recommendation Committee) for the appointment of the 16th VC Association chairman was held, and it was unanimously decided to recommend the two candidates to the board of directors."

On that day, the Chairman Recommendation Committee pre-approved the selection of two candidates out of four candidates ? Park Ki-ho, CEO of LB Investment, Song Eun-gang, CEO of Capstone Partners, Kim Chang-gyu, CEO of Woori Venture Partners, and Kim Hak-gyun ? to be recommended to the board of directors.

Subsequently, to select the final two candidates to be recommended to the board, all attendees of the Chairman Recommendation Committee cast their votes for one candidate each. Accordingly, CEO Kim Hak-gyun and CEO Song Eun-gang were unanimously selected as the top two vote-getters. Based on the order of application, CEO Kim Hak-gyun will be candidate number 2, and CEO Song Eun-gang will be candidate number 3.

CEO Kim Hak-gyun graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Electronic Engineering, then entered the VC industry after working at Daewoo Telecom and LG Venture Investment (now LB Investment). He later served as head of investment at Hanwha Investment and CEO of Central Investment Partners, and founded Quantum Ventures Korea in 2017.

CEO Song Eun-gang graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Computational Statistics and earned a master's degree in Computer Science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He worked at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology and Samsung Group. In 1997, he gained investment experience at Cambridge Samsung Partners, and in 2000, he co-founded MVP Venture Investment (now Smilegate Investment). In 2008, he founded Capstone Partners and has served as its CEO since.

The board meeting to appoint the chairman will be held on the 7th of next month, where the final candidate will be selected and recommended to the general meeting. Approximately 40 executives and members of the VC Association are expected to attend the board meeting. The final chairman of the VC Association will be selected at the regular general meeting to be held on the 25th of next month.

Previously, the 16th VC Association chairman election attracted attention from the investment banking (IB) industry as it was the first time in history that the election was conducted in a competitive format, with four candidates registering as candidates.
