Bitgwa Electronics (CEO Park Chan-hee), a specialized manufacturer of optical transceiver components, is actively pursuing overseas market expansion to overcome the domestic telecommunications market slump.
The company will participate in the 'Convergence India 2025 Exhibition' held in New Delhi, India, from March 19 to 21, showcasing a diverse product lineup for the Indian telecommunications market and promoting market expansion through meetings with local customers.
At this exhibition, products tailored for the Indian market will be displayed, including various optical transceivers ranging from 155Mbps to 10Gbps for wired FTTH and wireless networks, 100Gbps to 800Gbps optical transceivers for the rapidly growing data center market, and pluggable amplifiers in SFP/QSFP form factors.
India, with a population of approximately 1.425 billion?the largest in the world?and an economic growth rate of about 7% last year, is a blue ocean market for telecommunications. As of December 2023, 4G and 5G data subscribers reached 724 million and 101.31 million, respectively. Notably, due to political friction with China, the Indian government has denied visas to Chinese nationals and prohibited the use of Chinese products in government projects, making India an opportunity-rich land where Korean companies can gain indirect benefits.
A company representative stated, “The Indian government offers various incentives through the ‘Make in India’ policy to foster domestic manufacturing,” adding, “We are actively and thoroughly reviewing the establishment of local subsidiaries and production lines to pioneer and expand the Indian market.”
Bitgwa Electronics’ overseas market development schedule is intense. After the Convergence India 2025 exhibition, the company will also participate in the ‘OFC (Optical Fiber Communication) 2025 Exhibition,’ the world’s largest optical communication exhibition, held in San Francisco, USA, from April 1 to 3.
At the OFC exhibition, the company will showcase various products including the 25Gbps C-band full channel tunable SFP expected to be mass-produced in the Americas this year, the 25Gbps narrow channel tunable SFP which combines functional and cost advantages of tunable technology, the 25Gbps EDC SFP that doubles the existing transmission distance using Electrical Dispersion Compensation (EDC) technology, and optical transceivers ranging from 100Gbps to 800Gbps for data centers.
A company representative emphasized, “With North American mobile carriers expanding CAPEX in 2025, investment is increasing after two years, raising expectations for industry recovery,” and added, “Especially in the U.S. market, following President Trump’s administration, tariffs and bidding restrictions on Chinese products are expected to strengthen overall controls, which we anticipate will create additional opportunities for our exports to the U.S.”
