Yongsan-gu Supports 100,000 KRW Exam Fees for Unemployed Youth Certification Tests

Applications Accepted from the 1st to the 10th of Every Month Starting Next Month

Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will launch the "2025 Youth National Certification and Language Test Fee Support Project" starting next month. This project is designed to assist young job seekers in preparing for employment and to alleviate their financial burden. The district has relaxed the residency requirements for eligibility this year to allow more young people to benefit from the support.

The eligible applicants are youth aged 19 to 39 (born between 1986 and 2006) who have been registered residents of Yongsan-gu for at least one month as of the application date, and who are either unemployed or have no business registration. Those who have received support from similar programs such as the National Employment Support System or Youth Allowance this year, or who have been selected as beneficiaries of such programs, are not eligible. Participants in public jobs or short-term workers can apply but must submit supporting documents.

Test fees will be supported up to a maximum of 100,000 KRW per person annually. Applications for support can be made for tests taken from January of this year onward, with no restrictions on the number of applications or pass/fail status.

Eligible tests for fee support include 545 types of national technical qualifications and 247 types of national professional qualifications administered by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, as well as 18 language tests in seven languages (English, Japanese, Chinese, German, French, Russian, Spanish), and the Korean History Proficiency Test.

Youth wishing to apply should submit their application form via email to the district office staff between the 1st and 10th of each month. Selection results will be individually notified by the 25th of each month. Support funds will be transferred to the applicant’s personal bank account by the end of each month.

Mayor Park Hee-young stated, “We support young people in enhancing their employment capabilities and hope they seize opportunities for challenge and growth,” adding, “We will continue to develop and implement various policies to promote active social participation among youth.”

Meanwhile, last year the district received a total of 506 applications for test fee support and provided a total of 31.85 million KRW in support for 431 cases after excluding those who did not meet residency requirements or who received overlapping support from other districts.
