Announcement of the 'Integrated Reform of Delivery Fee System' Reflecting On-site Feedback
Baedal Minjok has increased the minimum guaranteed amount by 10% by region to ensure stable income for riders.
Woowa Brothers, which is in charge of Baemin's logistics service, announced the 'Rider Delivery Fee System Integration Reform' including this content on the 24th. This system, developed by Woowa Brothers reflecting on-site voices through communication with riders, is scheduled to be introduced sequentially by region starting March 1.
First, reflecting the voices of riders who requested an increase in the minimum delivery fee, the nationwide minimum delivery fee was raised. A Woowa Brothers official said, “The changed minimum delivery fee has increased by 10% compared to the existing rate, and it is expected to have an effect of increasing riders' income,” adding, “With the nationwide increase in the minimum delivery fee, riders can receive a more stable basic income, thereby securing economic stability.”
To solve the problem of riders avoiding long-distance deliveries, the surcharge will be strengthened as the travel distance increases to provide additional earning opportunities. For example, a rider performing a 4 km delivery, classified as long-distance, previously received 5,260 KRW under the existing system, but after the change, they can receive about 5,900 KRW, an increase of approximately 12%. Also, for a 5 km delivery, the previous settlement was 6,060 KRW, but applying the reform plan, it increases by about 14% to 6,900 KRW. A Woowa Brothers official said, “If a rider delivering in Gangnam-gu, Seoul performs about 20 deliveries of approximately 5 km per day, their monthly income could increase by about 420,000 KRW.”
Woowa Brothers also considered riders' demand for a faster and more stable delivery fee settlement system and changed the settlement from the existing ‘weekly settlement’ to ‘daily settlement.’ Currently, settlements are received up to 9 days later, but under the reform plan, payments will be made at least 3 days later.
A rider-customized promotion called ‘NEW Delivery Master Club,’ which provides additional rewards for delivering more, will also be introduced.
A Woowa Brothers official said, “This delivery fee integration reform was designed with multiple considerations to reduce the social costs involved in delivery through programs such as the increase in minimum delivery fees, long-distance surcharges, daily settlements, and the Delivery Master Club,” adding, “Ultimately, it was planned to satisfy all stakeholders including riders, consumers, and small business owners, and we hope it will help revitalize the delivery industry. Baedal Minjok will continue to make relentless efforts prioritizing the experience of all stakeholders.”
