Expectations for Revitalizing Research Exchanges
through a Vision of Inclusive Global Research Cooperation
The East Asia Research Institute at Dong-Eui University (Director Lee Kyung-kyu) signed an academic exchange agreement on January 21 with the Korean Studies Center at Yanbian University in China (Center Director Kang Soo-ok) to promote research exchanges related to overseas Koreans.

Both research institutes expect this agreement to serve as an opportunity to activate various academic exchanges related to overseas Koreans and to secure sustainable research agendas.
The East Asia Research Institute at Dong-Eui University is conducting a project supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea titled "Declassification and Database Construction of Diplomatic Documents Related to Zainichi Koreans after Liberation."
Recently, based on the outcomes of various academic symposiums and dissemination workshops, they planned and published Volume 9 of the East Asia Research Series, "Historical Representations of Minorities in Japan," and Volume 1 of the Diplomatic Documents Research Series, "Return, Repatriation, and Repatriation of Zainichi Koreans through Diplomatic Documents," as well as Volumes 1 and 2 of the "Declassified Materials from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Related to the Repatriation of Zainichi Koreans to North Korea."
The Korean Studies Center at Yanbian University is conducting various academic programs, including extensive data collection and excavation related to overseas Koreans, while planning a project to build a database of literature and materials related to the Korean Peninsula and the Joseonjok.
Lee Kyung-kyu, Director of the East Asia Research Institute at Dong-Eui University, stated, "Through this agreement and future exchanges and cooperation with domestic and international research institutions related to overseas Koreans, we aim to establish a system that activates mutual research exchanges among researchers, promote mutual exchanges between research institutes, and share transnational research projects to seek a vision of inclusive research cooperation."
In addition to the academic exchange agreement with the Korean Studies Center at Yanbian University, the East Asia Research Institute at Dong-Eui University has signed academic exchange agreements and is actively engaging in academic exchanges with the Overseas Korean Studies Association, Jeju National University’s Zainichi Jeju People Center, Kyungpook National University Social Science Research Institute, Gachon University Asia Culture Research Institute, Kumamoto University International Humanities and Social Sciences Research Center in Japan, and Tokyo Gakugei University Korea Research Institute.
