This agreement was established to build a cooperative system among farmers’ organizations, the Nonghyup, and Yangju City, which are responsible for production, guidance, and distribution, to expand the cultivation of high-quality rice varieties and foster regionally specialized varieties.

This year, the city plans to create a total of 70 hectares of cultivation complexes, including a 50-hectare ‘domestically developed premium rice production complex’ and a 20-hectare ‘stable rice production cultivation complex,’ to cultivate ‘high-quality rice varieties for table rice’ that guarantee stability and quality.

Additionally, members of the ‘Yangju Rice Research Association’ will apply premium rice production manuals and core technologies to maintain the quality of harvested crops through temperature-controlled storage and quality analysis (such as protein content), securing stable seeds and operating seed production fields to strengthen the competitiveness of high-quality Yangju rice.

Participating farmers in the project plan to lead precision agriculture by implementing chemical fertilizer reduction based on soil test results, introducing labor-saving agricultural machinery to realize ‘labor-saving throughout the entire rice cultivation process’ and ‘scientific farming,’ and using agricultural materials to respond to climate change and practice low carbon emissions.

Furthermore, the ‘Yangju United Nonghyup Rice Processing Complex’ plans to purchase contract-grown varieties including Jinok, Alchanmi, and Chamdream, aiming to captivate consumers’ tastes by branding ‘Yangju rice high-quality brand’ with Alchanmi as the main variety.

A Yangju City official stated, “Through this win-win development agreement, we hope to continuously expand the supply of delicious, high-quality Yangju rice, enhancing consumer satisfaction and trust while contributing to income improvement for producers.”
