Leap Forward to Realize “Joyful Changes and a Happier Guri City” in the Third Year of the 8th Elected Term
The city of Guri, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 23rd that it held the ‘8th Term Elected Mayor’s Pledge Project Progress Report Meeting’ on the 22nd at the 3rd-floor situation room of City Hall to review the progress of campaign pledge projects promised to citizens.

Presided over by Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun, the meeting was attended by about 20 heads and directors of departments responsible for pledge implementation. Detailed progress reports on ongoing pledge projects were presented, followed by in-depth discussions on ways to effectively improve the implementation rate.
The 8th term elected mayor’s pledge projects of Guri City, aimed at leading sustainable and enjoyable changes for 190,000 citizens, consist of 142 projects across 10 sectors, including ‘A City Good for Raising Children.’ So far, 100 projects have been completed, showing a 70.4% implementation rate, with the remaining 42 projects progressing smoothly.
Major completed pledge projects include ▲the installation of the Children’s Science Library (Observatory) ▲creation of a direct access bike path connecting Byeollae Station exit to Galmaecheon ▲installation of a park golf course at Acheon Drainage Pump Station retention basin ▲establishment of a children’s experience center in Galmae-dong ▲transportation support for severely disabled persons ▲installation of a total support center for small business owners ▲expansion of pet theme parks ▲provision of funeral support services for low-income families ▲creation of bicycle rest areas along the Han River ▲and the establishment of the Galmae Lifelong Learning Center.
The city plans to complete four additional projects by the first half of 2025, including ▲undergrounding the Jeonju road between Gyomun Intersection and Doldari Bridge and creating a pedestrian-friendly street ▲establishing a lighting gallery under Topyeong Bridge ▲expanding facilities and installing convenience amenities at Imunan Lake Park ▲and preparing measures to resolve traffic congestion during commuting hours at Guri-Amsa Bridge and other locations.
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun stated, “The year 2025, marking the third year of the 8th term, is a crucial period for Guri City to take a leap forward based on the achievements accumulated so far.” He pledged, “We will create a Guri City where everyone is happy by listening to the voices of our citizens.”
He also urged related staff to “focus all policy capabilities on sustainable development and improving citizens’ quality of life to realize joyful changes and a happier Guri City.”
Meanwhile, Guri City continues to maintain citizen-centered administration through transparent implementation and active communication of pledge projects by holding monthly pledge progress report meetings and publicly sharing the 8th term administrative vision, pledge progress, pledge ledger, and detailed action plans by sector on the city’s website to strengthen trust with citizens.
