Eliminating Safety Blind Spots
Park Hyuncheol, Vice Chairman and CEO of Lotte Construction, has reaffirmed the principle of "No work without safety" and is taking steps to strengthen safety management.
On January 23, Lotte Construction announced that it has adopted "Let's be Safe 2025!" as its safety slogan for this year and will implement three core strategies and nine key initiatives to establish a site-centered safety mindset.
At the 2024 management strategy meeting held on January 17 and chaired by Vice Chairman Park, Lotte Construction identified three core strategies: strengthening execution, advancing the safety management system, and enhancing the competency of its members. The nine key initiatives include supporting on-site safety activities, strengthening the management of blind spots, establishing a safety system for partner companies, and enhancing worker education.
At the management strategy meeting, Vice Chairman Park emphasized, "We must establish a safety mindset centered on the field and eradicate risk factors under the principle of 'No work without safety,'" stressing that safety is the company's top priority.

Since taking office, Vice Chairman Park has personally visited sites across the country every month to inspect safety conditions. On the 22nd, in recognition of "Safety Inspection Day," he visited a complex facility site in Seocho-gu, Seoul, to check on safety conditions and communicate with employees.
Lotte Construction plans to enhance on-site response speed by establishing safety support centers in the Seoul metropolitan area, Yeongnam, and Honam regions. The company will also strengthen monitoring at the AI Safety Situation Center. To this end, additional mobile CCTVs will be installed at sites, and communication facilities will be reinforced in underground areas with weak connectivity. In addition, the standards for exercising the right to stop work will be clarified so that both workers and managers can easily utilize them.
Lotte Construction has been the first in the industry to apply differentiated ESG safety ratings when selecting partner companies. Starting this year, the company will further raise safety standards through periodic evaluations. Worker education will also be strengthened, with the production and distribution of accident case animations and special training materials. For foreign workers, emergency guides in multiple languages and interpretation services will be provided.
Lotte Construction executives are further strengthening the on-site management system by operating the "Executive On-site Safety Officer System," in which executives inspect sites every week.
A Lotte Construction official stated, "Through site-centered safety activities, we will strengthen the execution of safety and health measures and establish a culture of voluntary safety practices," adding, "We will continue to prioritize safety and strive to create safe working environments at all sites."
