Joguk Innovation Party Announces Transfer News
Former leader of the Joguk Innovation Party, Jo Guk, was transferred from Seoul Detention Center to the Southern Correctional Institution. It was expected that he would encounter President Yoon Seok-yeol, but the meeting did not take place.
On the 22nd, Hwang Hyun-seon, Secretary General of the Joguk Innovation Party, announced through social media (SNS) that former leader Jo had been transferred and advised sending letters and other items to the Southern Correctional Institution instead of Seoul Detention Center.
Secretary General Hwang also stated, "If you include money for commissary in the letter, all other items except the letter will be discarded," adding, "A heartfelt letter is a great source of strength."
Former leader Jo was sentenced to two years in prison on December 12 last year for charges including his children's admission fraud and was incarcerated at Seoul Detention Center on December 16 of the same year. President Yoon, who is detained on charges of leading a rebellion, is currently held at Seoul Detention Center.
Correctional authorities conducted classification procedures at Seoul Detention Center and transferred former leader Jo to the Southern Correctional Institution after 39 days of incarceration.
In a prison letter dated the 21st, former leader Jo stated, "I wanted to meet Yoon Seok-yeol, who was admitted to Seoul Detention Center, but it was not possible due to special management of his movements," and added, "If we were to meet, I would look him straight in the eyes and shout, 'Rebellion leader Yoon Seok-yeol, kneel before the people!'"
