The Gwangjin District Council (Chairperson Jeon Eun-hye) held a traditional market shopping event for the Lunar New Year on the 21st to revitalize the local commercial district, which has been weakened by high inflation.
This shopping event was conducted by council members visiting various traditional markets in person. Members from electoral district Ga visited Sinseong Traditional Market, members from district Na visited markets around Hwayang-dong, members from district Da visited Jayang Alley Market, and members from district Ra visited the Neungdong-ro, Norunsan, and Yeongdonggyo alley markets. They directly purchased ingredients, agricultural and marine products, daily necessities, and other items needed for welfare facilities using Onnuri gift certificates, while also taking time to communicate with market merchants.
Chairperson Jeon Eun-hye stated, “We spent time shopping at the markets with fellow council members to offer some strength and comfort to the merchants who are going through difficult times amid political and economic challenges. I hope residents will also visit traditional markets filled with warm affection with their families this Lunar New Year and join in revitalizing the local economy.”
Afterwards, the Gwangjin District Council delivered the items purchased during the shopping event to welfare facilities, practicing the spirit of sharing so that marginalized neighbors in the community can also enjoy a bountiful Lunar New Year.
