Performance Sharing Meeting Held to Share Last Year's Best Practices
Encouraging Voluntary School Changes and Fostering Industry-Tailored Talent
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) shared last year's best practices and discussed development plans for the Ulsan-type Vocational High School Innovation Support Project, which supports changes in vocational high schools.
On the 22nd, the Ulsan Office of Education held the "2024 Education Development Special Zone Project Linked Ulsan-type Vocational High School Innovation Support Project Performance Sharing Meeting" at the Ulsan Vocational Education Complex Center, attended by over 40 people including principals and teachers from 11 vocational high schools.
The Ulsan-type Vocational High School Innovation Support Project aims to induce voluntary school changes in connection with the Ministry of Education's Education Development Special Zone Project and to cultivate regionally tailored talents through various employment programs.
The Ulsan Office of Education is using this project to enhance school competitiveness, promote employment for high school graduates, and establish a foundation for graduates to settle in the region.
At the event, excellent cases promoted by vocational high schools were presented, project results were exhibited, and achievements were shared.
The best practices were introduced in various areas such as student employment competency enhancement programs (industry-academia cooperation practical lectures, communication with famous YouTubers), community-linked activities (E-sports competitions, "Donghaeng" ? a heartwarming event with local seniors), member harmony programs (morning hand clapping, teacher chat days, parent major experience activities, etc.), and student self-governance activities (free speech podium, free street performances, etc.).
A teacher who participated in the event said, "Thanks to the Innovation Support Project, we were able to take a step closer to creating a joyful and happy school by achieving voluntary school changes through harmony among members and supporting student self-governance," adding, "It was very helpful to share various excellent cases from each school."
In September last year, the Ulsan Office of Education opened the Vocational Education Complex Center within Ulsan Technical High School, the nation's first vocational education hub, and is promoting the vocational high school change project as a major task.
They are exploring directions for change and development of vocational high schools through various methods such as visits by the superintendent to vocational high schools, visits to advanced schools in other cities and provinces, principal meetings, vice-principal meetings, policy dialogues, and meetings with student councils.
Superintendent Cheon Chang-su said, "I ask you to create warm and happy schools with even more progress this year," and added, "We will continue to support the development and growth of vocational high schools."
