Choi Sang-mok: "APEC, a golden opportunity to demonstrate South Korea's resilience"

Acting President Choi chaired the '5th Preparatory Committee for the 2025 APEC Summit' at the Government Seoul Office in the afternoon and said, "It is an opportunity to further solidify the nation's credibility through a role befitting a global pivotal country."

The APEC Summit is scheduled to be held in Gyeongju City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, between late October and early November this year. The Preparatory Committee was convened to review related project plans and was held for the first time under Acting President Choi's chairmanship. The committee reviewed the progress of preparations focusing on overall summit infrastructure, business events, and cultural events, and discussed future plans.

Acting President Choi emphasized that this APEC meeting is the largest high-level multilateral diplomatic stage held domestically since the 2010 G20 Summit and the 2012 Nuclear Security Summit, reiterating, "It is an opportunity to confirm our elevated international status and secure the trust and support of the international community." He then urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, related government agencies, local governments, and economic organizations to "communicate and unite to prepare the summit and related events swiftly and steadily without being shaken by domestic and international circumstances during the remaining period."
