Yeungnam University Student Son Yeolmae Receives Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the Saemaeul Club Evaluation Contest

Yeungnam University (President Choi Oechul) announced on the 22nd that student Son Yeolmae from the Department of Saemaul International Development received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award.


At the ‘2024 University Saemaul Club Advisor Workshop and Year-end Evaluation Contest’ hosted by the Saemaul Movement Central Association, held recently at the Sonovel Grand Ballroom in Cheonan, Chungnam, Son Yeolmae, a first-year student in the Department of Saemaul International Development, received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award.

This event was organized to share Saemaul club activity cases from universities nationwide, strengthen exchange and cooperation among club members, and promote harmony between professors and students. Approximately 360 advisors and students from 72 universities across the country participated, and outstanding club activists were selected to receive the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award and scholarships.


Despite being a freshman, Son Yeolmae served as the president of the university Saemaul club and participated in the Global Saemaul Forum, the Jeonnam-Gyeongbuk University Saemaul Joint Project hosted by the Gyeongbuk Saemaul Association, and successfully carried out the 2024 Sri Lanka Saemaul Overseas Volunteer Corps activity organized by the Saemaul Foundation. Her passionate activities were recognized, leading to her selection as an outstanding club activist.


Son Yeolmae said, “I am pleased to contribute to creating new values through the Saemaul Movement led by the MZ generation,” adding, “I want to let people know that the Saemaul Movement is not just a thing of the past but can be practiced in our lives today. I hope to continue contributing to community development through meaningful Saemaul club activities.”


Meanwhile, the Department of Saemaul International Development at Yeungnam University supports students in building field-oriented professional competencies with the educational goal of nurturing global talents who can contribute to the international community by fostering a warm heart for people and a global mindset through global competency enhancement education.
