On the 16th, Yangpyeong-gun held a safety management plan inspection meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Ma Sun-heung to discuss inspection plans with related departments on major safety management measures in nine areas, including snow removal work due to heavy snow and cold waves, emergency medical systems, and household waste collection.
During the long holiday period (25th to 30th), the county plans to operate a 24-hour disaster safety situation room to prepare for disaster situations, immediately disseminate information in case of emergencies to support rapid initial response, maintain a 24-hour emergency medical system, designate emergency medical institutions (Yangpyeong Hospital), and conduct inspections of medical institutions and pharmacies operating during the holiday to establish a seamless medical system.
Additionally, the county will operate a household waste disposal task force and 12 mobile cleaning teams in towns and townships, increase collection vehicle operations by 20%, and handle household waste similarly to normal times. Safety inspections will be conducted for welfare facilities for the disabled and multi-use facilities used by vulnerable groups, and preemptive alternative measures will be secured for children at risk of missing meals.
Furthermore, on the 21st, under the county's supervision, a joint inspection team consisting of related organizations (Yangpyeong Fire Station, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, Korea Gas Safety Corporation) was formed, and a safety inspection and fire prevention publicity campaign were conducted together with the market merchants' association.
The main joint inspection items include △ securing fire extinguishing facilities such as fire extinguishers △ use of octopus-style power strips and contaminated multi-taps △ storage status of gas cylinders and normal operation of alarms △ maintenance of fire compartments, and rapid repairs and follow-up management will be carried out to ensure a safe Lunar New Year holiday.
Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun, said, “Traditional markets have densely packed stores, so fires can lead to large-scale disasters,” and added, “We will continue to conduct regular safety inspections so that residents can prepare for the Lunar New Year holiday with peace of mind.”
